PARK SOUTH
The first phase of the park, known as Park South, will sit between the Grade II* Listed Gasholder No.2 and the buildings in Phase 1. The park features a large area of open lawn, play areas, seating and a water trail. Elements of Gasholder No.7 will be integrated into the park. These elements include the capital blocks, totems and roller wheels.
From late 2022, this new green space will be open to all local residents, and will provide new open space, along with new trees and native planting to support biodiversity and wildlife. St William submitted the Park South planning application in July 2021 (LBHF planning ref. no. 2021/02303/RES).
On this page, you will find further information and details related to our design of Park South. The Site Location Plan indicates where the extent of Park South sits within the wider approved King’s Road Park masterplan. We have also included a Landscape General Arrangement Plan which sets out the design, details and arrangement of the various features within Park South, including materials, play hub elements, and natural landscaping. Full and complete details of our proposed design are set out within the Design and Access Statement, prepared by our landscape architects, Gillespies.
As part of the King’s Road Park masterplan, St William are obliged to reuse elements of the dismantled Gasholder No.7 within the new development, which originally stood within the Fulham Gasworks site. The Gasholder No.7 Reinterpretation Strategy document presents a high-level strategic plan for reusing various parts of the former gasholder within the hard and soft landscaping design of King’s Road Park.
